Terrafirma has extensive experience building single family as well as attached row houses. We are skilled at realizing an architect’s vision, participating in the design process to allow for value-conscious decisions throughout design, and ensuring green building goals are met. As you’ll read below, our clients include private families and affordable housing organizations. When the opportunity is right, we develop, build, and sell modern, high quality homes in inner NE neighborhoods.

Dykstra Residence
The Columbia River scenic area was the backdrop for this NW Prairie style residence. Stained and heated concrete floors, millwork and stairs from bleacher seats, a ledgestone fireplace and wood windows all contributed to a home that will nurture the Dykstra family for years to come.
Bennington Residence
Old World Style was the goal for this Terrafirma home for sale adjacent to the Rose garden and Arboretum in NW Portland. The location called for a well established presence. Stucco, tile mosaics, smooth walls, wood windows, wide plank oak floors, lush gardens and custom iron work resulted in a home that feels like it was there for a generation.
May Residence
When you have a client and contractor in Portland, an architect in Seattle and a draftsperson in San Diego, you get a house designed on the web. This team came up with a contemporary duplex that met the zoning requirements and created flexibility for the client's current needs. Teenagers and a potential income stream for later in life make the additional residence over the garage an effective and efficient addition to the project. Removing the Black Walnut tree concerned the neighborhood until they found out it would become: the flooring, the fireplace mantle, the stair system and the mailbox. All the interior doors and woodwork were hand rubbed to reach a glow that would patina with life. Tile salvaged by the client from back rooms of tile stores were used to create an incredible quilt of colors and textures in the bathrooms. A collaboration that started on the web certainly found its place with Terrafirma.
Bryant Residence
NW Contemporary was the goal for this Urban Development Group. Value engineering by Terrafirma during the design allowed for: Pedini cabinets from Italy, aluminum clad wood windows, interior french doors with obscure glass, concrete pavers on a roof deck with a fireplace, Tiger wood and steel stails, and wired for complete home automation. Now this home stands proud overlooking Lake Oswego.

PCRI Greenplexes
Portland Community Reinvestment Initiative's goal was well-built, affordable housing for sale. Portland Office of Sustainability's goals were model homes of energy efficiency and sustainability. Terrafirma provided the union and 4 LEED certified homes were constructed in the New Colombia Village area of North Portland. High efficiency, durable materials, thoughtful design created the model for Portland Energy Efficient Home Pilot program and a fun stop on the Portland 2010 Green Building Tour. 1st time homeowners will ultimately own the homes that have raised the bar for affordable housing in Portland.
